1. Local-First Data Storage

Places We Will Go! is designed with a local-first architecture. Your saved places, visit logs, personal ratings, and trip itineraries are stored directly on your iPhone or iPad using standard iOS storage. You can use the entire application without creating an account.

2. Optional Cloud Sync & Accounts

If you choose to register or sign in with an email address and password, your email address and saved travel library are securely transmitted to Google Firebase Authentication and Cloud Firestore solely to synchronize your places across your signed-in devices.

3. Map & City Selection (No GPS Permission Required)

Places We Will Go! never asks for device GPS location permissions. To help you explore and plan trips, the app uses only the cities and places you choose:

• User-Selected City: For Date Ideas, Day Trips, Weekend Getaways, and Road Trips, you pick a city or destination directly from your saved atlas—no background or foreground GPS tracking is ever used.
• Apple MapKit Search & Routing: Used when you search for places, import shared Apple Maps or Google Maps links, or compute realistic drive times between stops.
• Public Venue Schedules: When viewing stadiums or concert venues, the app queries public schedule feeds (such as ESPN and MusicBrainz) to display upcoming games and concerts.

4. Zero Tracking & Zero Advertising

We do not track you across third-party apps or websites, embed no advertising SDKs, and never sell or rent your personal data.

5. In-App Account & Data Deletion

If you have created a cloud sync account, you can permanently delete your account at any time directly inside the iOS app by navigating to Settings → Account → Delete and confirming deletion. Your authentication record is immediately deleted.
